Isle of Man Marathon

It's confirmed, I finished as 1st Texan at Isle of Man Marathon.  And I finished as 1st American.  The race director assigned me bib #90.  A nice touch.

Race reference to the Texan:

I also was one of 3 runners profiled and filmed at the marathon.  We did some filming the evening before in the rain walking through the town of Douglas looking for a carb-loading pasta restaurant. Then before, during and after the marathon.

The Isle of Man Marathon had a few tricks up his sleeve: wind, rain, hills, more wind, more rain and more hills.  I finished in 4:35.  98 finishers in the marathon.

Upon arrival in Isle of Man I was informed that there is a superstition regarding Fairy Bridge.  I followed the suggestion of my driver and waved to the "Fairy" as we drove by and it worked, I finished my 90th marathon.

The most common question I received when they learned I was from US was: are you going to vote Democratic or Republican?  I simply said, "You know, I'm from Texas".  Everyone was calling me Texas after that.

During the race we also discussed why we all selected the Isle of Man Marathon over the Beijing Olympics Marathon.  The consensus was: air quality!

They also asked me if I came all the way from Texas just for this marathon.  I told them the truth, "No it was a business trip with a side marathon."  They all understood.

So that is 87 marathons in 69 months.

Congrats Kevin

Way to go, Kevin!  You're an inspiration!

Duncan

Congrats & Cheers Mate!

Kevin,

Nice job on another Marathon. Can't wait to hear about your UK experience and compare with when I ran London Flora 2 yrs ago. Sounds like it was a small marathon.
