Grandfather Mountain Marathon

I am headed to North Carolina Saturday for my 89th Marathon.  Grandfather Mountain in Boone, NC.  See you in 2 weeks.

Way to go, Kevin on your upcoming #89.  We will be thinking about you and rooting for a good marathon and amusing stories upon your return.  Hopefully your weather in NC will be cooler than ours!

Grandfather Mountain Marathon

Don't let a marathon with Mountain in the title scare you!  Only the last 13 miles were uphill.  The first 13 were up and down and up and ....................

Once again I was First Texan with a blazing uphill time of 4:42:31.  #89 in the record books, finishing at the top of Grandfather Mountain at the Highland Games.  A lot of people were waiting for the real games while a marathon maniac trotted around the gravel track by himself to spatters of applause.

 

There were 3 guys that ran with kilts, not counting me.  It was a bagpipe finish.
